1. Who we are and the scope of this policy
Welcome to the GoSinoEdu (جو سينو) platform, a digital platform that helps students wishing to study in China browse universities, programmes and scholarships, create student profiles, submit and track admission applications, and access supporting educational services that may be available through the platform. This policy explains how personal data is collected, used, shared and protected when you use the website, student portal, partner-office portal and communication services. Relevant data protection laws apply, including the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law where applicable.
2. Types of information we may collect
(a) Account and contact details: name, email address, telephone number, nationality, date of birth, city and account information.
(b) Academic information: educational qualification, certificate type, grades and grade average, intended major, language test results, previous schools and universities, and academic documents.
(c) Identity and travel information where necessary for an application: passport details, validity dates and required documents. Copies of official identity documents are collected only where legally permitted and to the extent necessary for the service.
(d) Information for additional services you request: scholarships, visa and embassy enquiries, airport reception, employment opportunities, parental or guardian information where needed, and documents required by the university or competent authority. Some requirements may include medical information or other highly private documents; these are subject to limited collection and additional safeguards under applicable law.
(e) Technical interaction data: IP address, browser and device type, usage and security logs, and cookies used to operate or improve the service.
(f) Records of communications and correspondence concerning applications and customer support.
We collect information provided directly by the user or lawfully received by the system from parties relevant to the application.
3. Why we use personal data
We use personal data to create accounts and verify identity where needed, prepare student profiles, assess programme and scholarship requirements, process applications and send them to the institutions chosen by the student, update application statuses, communicate about missing items, deadlines and supporting services, respond to enquiries, prevent fraud and unauthorised access, improve reliability, and meet legal obligations. We do not use personal data for direct marketing without meeting applicable legal requirements and obtaining any necessary consent.
4. Legal grounds for processing
We process data on the appropriate legal basis for each purpose, such as providing a service or performing a contract, the data subject’s consent where required, a legal obligation, or another basis permitted by applicable law. We distinguish consent required for a specific purpose from acknowledgement that the privacy policy has been read.
5. Sharing data with third parties
We may share the minimum necessary information with Chinese universities and educational institutions to which the student applies, relevant scholarship bodies, authorised partner offices within the scope of their tasks, technical, communication and operational service providers subject to appropriate arrangements, and competent authorities where legally required. We do not sell students’ personal data for marketing purposes. Partner offices may not access information about students outside the scope of their authorisation.
6. Transfers to China or outside the country of residence
Because the service concerns study in China, it may be necessary to share a student’s academic data or travel documents with universities or other bodies in China or elsewhere, depending on the application. We take account of cross-border transfer requirements, data minimisation and relevant legal safeguards, including the Saudi Regulation on Personal Data Transfer Outside the Kingdom where applicable, and explain the recipients and purpose of sharing to the student when needed. Receiving universities may have independent privacy policies once they receive application data. Agreeing to this policy alone does not override legal requirements for international transfers.
7. Retention and deletion
We retain data only for as long as necessary to manage accounts, applications and services, meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. We then delete it or securely render it non-identifiable when the purpose and legal basis for retention no longer apply, taking account of backup cycles. Retention periods may vary by category of record; further information can be requested through the contact page.
8. Data protection
We adopt technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risks associated with the data. These include restricting access to files and records to authorised persons and applying account, communication and security-monitoring safeguards according to the features enabled on the platform. Security risks cannot be eliminated entirely.
9. Data subject rights
Under the laws applicable to the processing of your data, you may request information about how it is used, access your data or obtain a copy, correct inaccuracies, request deletion where legally permitted, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, and lodge a complaint with the competent authority. Requests can be submitted through the website’s “Contact us” page and are handled according to applicable legal procedures and time limits.
10. Minors and guardians
If a minor needs to use the services, we may request consent from a guardian or legal representative and apply additional protections where required by law. Accurate information must be provided about the capacity in which the applicant is acting.
11. Cookies and external links
The website may use cookies necessary for sign-in, saving preferences and operating the service. Any additional analytics or marketing cookies must meet applicable notice and consent requirements. External links, including WhatsApp and university websites, may lead to services with their own privacy policies. Sending passports and sensitive documents through communication channels not intended for file uploads is not recommended.
12. Student photographs and success stories
We do not publish students’ photographs, names or admission stories for promotional purposes without meeting the necessary consent and legal-basis requirements. Such consent is separate from the processing necessary to provide the service.
13. Updates and contact
This policy may be updated when services or laws change, with the update date stated and users notified where needed. For privacy requests, enquiries or complaints, please visit the “Contact us” page at https://gosinoedu.com/contact.
